Why vote?

European elections are coming up and you’re deciding whether to vote or not.

Let us tell you why we think you should.

In EU elections, you are

CALLED TO CHOOSE

the people who will represent you and your values in the European Parliament.

Once the candidates become Members of the European Parliament - aka MEPs - they have the power to shape and decide on new laws that influence the lives of people across the European Union.

They also put political, economic and social topics you might care about in the spotlight. Think of human rights, freedom of speech, AI data protection, the climate crisis, social rights… you name it! There will be an MEP interested in putting your same perspective forward.

The Parliament has an important role as it discusses the legislative proposals with the Council of the European Union. The proposal only becomes EU law when both the European Parliament and the Council agree on it.

You thought it was all?

The European Parliament can act on the petitions it receives from the EU citizens. Through petitions, the citizens can present a request or a complaint concerning the application of EU law or ask the European Parliament to adopt a position on a specific matter.

SO VOTING IN THE EU ELECTIONS IS ACTUALLY A PRETTY BIG DEAL

You have the power to shape the future of europe just by putting an X on a piece of paper! Mark your calendars and get out to vote on 6-9 June 2024
